interim & restorative, KEY ELEMENTS OF YOUR MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
“To protect your commercial carpet investment, the need to implement a maintenance program from the beginning is very important. A customized maintenance program’s main objective should be to control soil distribution in carpet. The program should include indoor and outdoor walk off mats, a vacuuming schedule, a protocol for spot removal, deep cleaning, and interim cleaning frequencies. It is the goal of this standard to make commercial carpet maintenance recommendations that will preserve the appearance and extend the life of your carpet.”
INTERIM
Also called ‘appearance cleaning’. Typically handled by an encapsulation cleaner being applied to the carpeting, or a dry absorbent compound, agitated and then vacuumed up.
This process removes light amounts of topical soils that vacuuming alone cannot get.
RESTORATIVE
When interim or appearance cleaning systems are no longer effective a restoration cleaning is necessary. This cleaning will restore carpeting to its cleanest state.
Most carpet manufacturers will recommend a hot water extraction for this process. However, in high-rise buildings, large SF offices and areas that receive constant traffic this method may not be recommended by management. A dry absorbent compound along with heavy pile lifting can quickly and safely provide a restorative cleaning.
